Progress in the development and integration of energy-relevant technologies is of great importance for reaching collective targets such as energy security, environmental protection and economic and social developments. The optimum use and integration of industrial waste heat is a key technology. The participation of the Austria research institutes AEE INTEC, AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and the Technical University of Vienna with the Institute of Energy Engineering and Thermodynamics in the IEA IETS Annex 15\/2 allows initiating international co-operation, to conduct projects and to offer R&D services in the field of industrial energy-relevant technologies and systems.
The main objective of phase 2 of the IEA IETS Annex 15 is the integration of Austrian research institutions into the international network, their participation within a platform for information exchange and the initiation of international projects in the field of excess heat usage in industrial processes. This will push the development of new cooperation and partnerships in industry and research will unify and help strengthen the transfer of knowledge as well as the development of technological competences. <\/p>\n\n
The results from the international cooperation within IEA IETS Annex 15 will be implemented in ongoing national research and development projects. Furthermore the obtained know how will be spread nationally through workshops, presentations and publications. On an international level, the industrial sector in Europe is strengthened through the tight co-operation and the transfer of knowledge. <\/p>\n\n
