The city of Graz already has a long tradition in urban climate research. Data from 1986, 1996, 2004 and 2011 have been the basis for important analyses tools. Such as a topographic map of city climates, maps containing planning information with regard to temperatures as well as wind fields, to name just a few.    <\/p>\n\n<p>Now, however, new ground is being broken. The previous urban climate analysis is evolving into KIS &#8211; the climate information system, which is continuously fed with data, constantly evolving and thus supporting visionary conceptions and planning beyond standard functions. <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>New, more comprehensive, more up-to-date and higher quality basic data, for example by integrating data provided by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.graz.at\/cms\/beitrag\/10282564\/11988940\/Klima_Informationssystem_KIS.html?cms_nearest=10392449\">climate monitoring<\/a> stations and data gathered by means of flights using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.graz.at\/cms\/beitrag\/10282564\/11988940\/Klima_Informationssystem_KIS.html?cms_nearest=10392264\">thermal scanning<\/a> devices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For the first time, large parts of the Styrian central region are considered from a climatological point of view.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consideration and inclusion of additional aspects such as bioclimate, cold air flows and vulnerability analyses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development of new methods and dynamic tools for modeling and simulation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anticipatory analyses of Graz&#8217;s urban climate by incorporating current international scientific climate scenarios (IPCC) into the simulations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The climate information system KIS does not remain static, but is able to react to different requirements or current challenges.<\/p>\n\n<p>This improves the quality. The data and forecasts become more accurate, can be presented in more diverse ways and are thus more meaningful.
