{"id":2442,"date":"2022-09-05T14:17:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-05T12:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/p688098.mittwaldserver.info\/project\/green-ammonia-fuel-ammonia-from-waste-water-for-multi-fuel-fuel-cells\/"},"modified":"2025-03-27T15:13:35","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T13:13:35","slug":"green-ammonia-fuel-ammonia-from-waste-water-for-multi-fuel-fuel-cells","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/www.aee-intec.at\/en\/project\/green-ammonia-fuel-ammonia-from-waste-water-for-multi-fuel-fuel-cells\/","title":{"rendered":"Green Ammonia Fuel &#8211; Ammonia from waste water for multi-fuel fuel cells"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The overall project objective is to develop an efficient ammonia <strong>(recovery) process<\/strong> for the production of <strong>renewable, green ammonia fuel<\/strong> from wastewater, which meets the qualitative requirements of a SOFC fuel cell (suitable, high concentration and quality of the recovered NH<sub>3<\/sub> gas) and can be used for industrial and mobility applications.<\/p>\n\n<p>By conducting experiments with real wastewater in laboratory scale, the project aims to overcome existing limitations by <strong>combining<\/strong> <strong>emergent zeolith- based ion exchange and vacuum membrane distillation (VMD<\/strong><strong>)<\/strong> <strong>technology<\/strong>, developing a new regeneration cycle for the ion-exchange loop stripping process at high ammonia concentrations and coupling it with a <strong>novel VMD test cell<\/strong> with an optimised <strong>membrane<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>At the end of the project, the <strong>basics <\/strong>(optimal operating parameters, optimal chemical properties of the ion-exchange regeneration solution, suitable membrane materials, as well as characterisation and proof of suitability of the generated fuel) should be researched for an <strong>innovative process combination<\/strong>, which combines energy-efficient wastewater treatment and the generation of green ammonia fuel in a single overall process.<\/p>\n\n<p>The ammonia fuel produced in the laboratory should meet the <strong>requirements <\/strong>of the SOFC fuel cell developed by <strong>AVL List<\/strong>, and thus for the first time be able to produce ammonia fuel energy-efficiently from secondary sources.<\/p>\n\n<p>Compared to conventional primary production of ammonia, both <strong>energy and CO<sub>2<\/sub> emissions<\/strong> will be saved, municipal wastewater treatment will be relieved, and the implementation of green ammonia as a CO<sub>2<\/sub>-free energy vector and fuel of the future will be advanced through sustainable cycle closure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":2441,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-2442","project","type-project","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
