{"id":3440,"date":"2012-06-14T17:36:00","date_gmt":"2012-06-14T15:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/p688098.mittwaldserver.info\/project\/solar-process-heat-for-production-and-advanced-applications\/"},"modified":"2025-04-06T18:22:24","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T16:22:24","slug":"solar-process-heat-for-production-and-advanced-applications","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/www.aee-intec.at\/en\/project\/solar-process-heat-for-production-and-advanced-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"SOLAR PROCESS HEAT FOR PRODUCTION AND ADVANCED APPLICATIONS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>According to a study (Ecoheatcool 2006), around 30% of the total industrial heat demand is required at temperatures below 100\u00b0C and 57% of this demand is required at temperatures below 400\u00b0C. The heat demand below 100\u00b0C could theoretically be met with solar thermal systems using current technologies, if suitable integration of the solar thermal system can be identified. With technological development, more and more medium temperature applications, up to 400\u00b0C, will also become market feasible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In several specific industry sectors, such as food, wine and beverages, transport equipment, machinery, textiles, pulp and paper, the share of heat demand at low and medium temperatures (below 250\u00b0C) is around 60% (POSHIP 2001). Tapping into this potential would provide a significant solar contribution to industrial energy requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The methodology which has been developed in order to realize thermal energy supply in industry with minimal greenhouse gas emissions is based on a three step approach:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Technological Optimization of the processes (e.g. increased heat and mass transfer, lower the process temperature) and solar thermal system (e.g. operation of solar field, integration schemes, control, safety issues etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>System Optimization (enhancing energy efficiency using e.g. Pinch Analysis for heat exchanger network for a total production site)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Integration of renewable energy\/solar thermal energy (based on exergetic considerations)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the framework of the IEA Task 49\/IV an online database on implemented SHIP-plants has been created by AEE INTEC and PSE (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pse.de\/\">www.pse.de<\/a>). The database contains a worldwide overview on existing solar thermal plants which provide thermal energy for production processes for different industry sectors. Each plant description contains a number of information e.g. about the size of the collector field, collector technology or integration point in the production process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The database can be accessed via&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ship-plants.info\/\">www.ship-plants.info<\/a>..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":3439,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-3440","project","type-project","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
