The IEA IETS Task 17 (24-26) promotes the exchange of knowledge between research, industry and membrane manufacturers in order to strengthen energy- and resource-efficient membrane processes in biorefineries and to support the Austrian research landscape. The task is part of the IETS Technology Collaboration Programme (TCP), which focuses on energy efficiency in industrial sectors. The consortium, led by Prof. Frank Lipnizki (Lund University), includes partners from science and industry. The continuation of Task 17 was re-established in 2022 and includes five subtasks covering various aspects of membrane processes in biorefineries. The task provides a platform for international exchange and networking meetings. Austria (AEE INTEC) is leading Subtask D: \u2018Emerging membrane processes for biorefineries\u2019 and is actively involved in other subtasks. The objectives of Task 17 are to network science, industry and decision-makers, to provide and distribute knowledge (publication of a guideline: \u2018Membranes in Biorefineries: Guideline 4.0). The guideline is constantly being revised, and the latest research findings, applications and potentials of membrane technologies are highlighted. At the end of the project phase, the guideline will be made available for download free of charge and actively shared within the international IEA Task 17 network. <\/p>\n\n
