ReBuildStock develops a portfolio management method that supports owners of large residential building stocks in creating strategies for a rapid and socially equitable decarbonization of their portfolios. The project responds to Europe\u2019s climate policy targets: achieving a 55% reduction in CO\u2082 emissions by 2030 and moving toward a climate-neutral building sector requires significantly higher renovation rates as well as efficient funding and implementation processes. Many housing providers, however, face the challenge of evaluating thousands of buildings simultaneously in terms of energy efficiency, CO\u2082eq emissions, costs, and social impacts. <\/p>\n\n
The method developed in ReBuildStock offers a structured, data-driven approach to address these challenges. It analyzes energy consumption, heating and final energy demand, and CO\u2082eq emissions, identifying those buildings where renovation measures will yield the greatest benefit. Across six modules, the method classifies buildings automatically, evaluates renovation strategies, calculates energy balances, and assesses the impact of different measures\u2014from building envelope improvements to the decarbonization of heat supply systems. An integrated cost database enables precise cost estimations, highlights funding opportunities, and supports investment planning. <\/p>\n\n
Based on this information, the method generates renovation roadmaps that account for priorities, budget constraints, and social considerations. ReBuildStock helps decision-makers allocate investment resources effectively, plan realistic development paths toward 2040\/2050, and implement renovation programmes transparently and efficiently.
