Amstetten has a clear vision to use the district development in the vacated ÖBB railway station area as an opportunity for a big step towards Zero-Emission-City. A systemic approach to sustainable heating and cooling, including a low-temperature network with technical measures at building and neighbourhood level and initiatives to change mobility behaviour, should contribute to reducing the CO2 footprint in the medium term.

IEA-EBC Annex 73: Towards Net Zero Energy Resilient Public Communities

Public building clusters like hospitals or university campuses often include critical infrastructure which have to be operational at every occasion. Consequently, these structures are in dire of robust and reliable energy supply which is additionally sustainable and cost-effective as far as possible. The IEA EBC Annex 73 aims at developing tools for the planning process of resilient, efficient and low carbon energy systems for such building clusters.
