HIGH COMBI – High Solar Fraction Heating and Cooling Systems with Combination of Innovative Components and Methods

The EU project HIGH COMBI aims at development and demonstration of solar thermal heating and cooling systems with high solar fraction. Especially in office buildings, where in the summer period domestic hot water load is typically very small but cooling load is high, solar cooling is a perfect match to a solar heating system.

 

SOLAIR – Increasing the market implementation of solar air conditioning systems for small and medium applications in residential and commercial buildings

In most European countries the electricity consumption for air-conditioning is increasing dramatically and it is expected an increasing by a factor of 5 in 2020. Under these conditions the use of solar thermal energy for air-conditioning in buildings has a huge unexploited potential.

 

Nachhaltige Siedlungswasserwirtschaft - Praktische Anwendungen (NASPA)

Vor allem für ländliche Streusiedlungen ist die zentrale Abwasserentsorgung, wie sie in Ballungszentren üblich ist, nicht zwangsweise die ökologisch und ökonomisch günstigste Variante. The information will be transferred to the relevant target groups (building promoters, architects, planners, customers). This will be done during workshops, planning assistance and a catalogue of quality criteria. The focus lies on solar thermal systems for multiple-family houses.

 

Solar Heat Worldwide - Markets and contribution to the energy supply

In the framework of the Solar Heating and Cooling Programme (SHC) of the International Energy Agency (IEA) a yearly report is prepared, that documents the solar thermal capacity installed in the important markets worldwide.

 

Energy Efficiency and Solar Heat for Industrial Processes in Styrian Companies (Styrian PromisE)

The goal of the project is the implementation of energetically and economically meaningful energy efficiency concepts in Styian (province of Austria) production companies. The concepts focus on a combination of energy efficiency measures and solar process heat plants.

 

Sustainable Industrial Resource Management in selected priority sectors of Nicaragua (NICATEC)

The goal of the project is to establish the prerequisites for the sustainable use of solar thermal energy in the food and tourism sectors of Nicaragua. To achieve this goal a comprehensive training programme is going to be carried out. Furthermore feasibility studies will be carried out and several demonstration projects are going to be installed in close cooperation of AEE INTEC and CPML (National Cleaner Production Centre Nicaragua).

 

Solar cooling with parabolic trough collectors and steam jet ejector chiller

A system for solar cold production is being developed in this project. Parabolic trough collectors are used to generate steam at a temperature level of 150-200°C. The steam then drives a steam jet ejector chiller.
