Digital Energy Twin – Optimised operation and design of industrial energy systems

The aim of the project Digital Energy Twin is to support industry in respect of methods and software tools in order to opimize operation and design of industrial energy supply systems. Using the digital twin method detailed simplified models for selected energy relevant processes and renewable technologies are being developed and evaluated. Core of the project is the development of an optimization strategy using standardised use cases as well as real case applications from manufacturing industry. For the first time approaches tackling with volatile renewable energy supply and fluctuating process energy demand in industry are being developed. It is possible to also use the method within the Energy Manager 4.0 Programme. Because of modularity and standardisation maximum impact should be achieved with regard to transferability to different industry sectors. Thus the industry is being supported in reducing cost and investment risk concerning renewable energy usage and as a consequence the share of renewables energies in industry should be significantly increased.
