Ship Malaysia – Solar Heat and Energy Efficiency for Industrial Processes in Malaysia
Malaysia aims at increasing the share of renewable energies with a mix of different technologies within the next few years. Thus Malaysia started several initiatives and action plans. Most of the plans refer to the electricity sector for example “Tenth Malaysia Plan 2011-2013 (10MP)”. Within this plan 5.5% of the required electricity is planned to be generated with renewables in 2015. Furthermore the “National Energy and Efficiency Master Plan (NEEMP, 2011-2020) is to be mentioned, concerning mainly energy efficiency to be increased through guidelines and standards for buildings and industries.
Within the scope of the project “Energy Efficiency and Solar Process Heat in Malaysia” know-how created in European programmes will be transferred to the soon-to-be solar experts in Malaysia through dissemination events and trainings. Thus the realisation of a couple of plants in the sectors of food industry, chemical industry and especially in the production of plastic gloves where Malaysia is world market leader is planned. The implementation of 10 solar thermal plants at the end of the project will be a major stimulus related to solar thermal process heat in the whole Asian region.
