Arrowhead Tools

AEE INTEC is head of the development line „digital twin for buildings“. Project partners for this development line are Infineon Technologies AG and EQUA Solutions AG. The research activities aim at coupling a real building with its „digital twin“. Building and system simulations are coupled in real time with measured data in order that the simulation shows the current state of the building. The information gained from the simulations are used for different purposes:

• optimisation of building control systems integrating changing boundary conditions (weather conditions, user behaviour, particular usage of rooms) accompanied by increased user comfort and energy efficiency
• simplified error detection
• use of virtual sensors (i.e. data gained from simulations) to gain more detailed knowledge on the state of the buildings

Infineon Technologies AG currently invest 1.6 billion Euro at its production and research site in Villach, Austria. A new fully automated chip factory for the production line of 300 mm chip wafers is being constructed as well as a new building for research and development. The research and development building is going to be equipped with a digital twin within the scope of the project Arrowhead Tools. So the heating, air conditioning and cooling system will be operated in a very energy efficient way while providing high comfort for the user.
