The question of how we should in future supply our buildings and businesses as well as our mobility requirements with efficiently used and climate-friendly produced energy cannot be answered at the level of the individual object. Neither can it be seen detached from the changes in the heating, electricity and mobility sector. Rather, a multitude of individual aspects must be taken into account without losing sight of the overarching goal of climate protection. This task can only be successfully solved by using an integrated approach at municipality level.

The development of the climate protection plan for the energy sector (heat, electricity and mobility) comprises the identification and evaluation of measures as well as recommendations for implementation including prioritization. The focus is on activities of the municipality of Gleisdorf and its associated companies. In addition, opportunities are identified to motivate private individuals and businesses to become active in the area of climate and environmental protection. The period of investigation is defined as 2030 (focus) and 2040 (outlook), and in addition to a BAU scenario (business as usual), an AMB scenario (ambitious) is developed.

In addition to the climate action plan, the proposal for a permanent organizational structure for the implementation of the measures is being developed within the framework of the project.

Upon completion of the project, the municipality of Gleisdorf will have a roadmap at its disposal, which will guide an accelerated phase-out of fossil fuels by means of a portfolio of potentially successful measures.
