EINSTEIN – EXPERT SYSTEM FOR AN INTELLIGENT SUPPLY OF THERMAL ENERGY IN INDUSTRY

In general, project schedules for energy audits are rather narrow, most of the time available data is not sufficient to provide a clear evaluation. However, for a first energy audit, industries want to have a clear proposition on the energy saving potential with a minimum of cost effort. Due to that, a special auditing tool in the framework of an EU-project was established, which could give great support to energy managers and consultants for performing a successful energy audit, from collecting important data up to an economic evaluation of the proposed measures.

The EINSTEIN software tool can be downloaded at www.einstein-energy.net where as well a detailed description of the underlying methodology can be found. The tool is Open Source software, platform independent and written in the program language Python. EINSTEIN, is clearly not established for commercial marketing purposes, but more the aim is that users can take part in further development of the tool, of its data bases and its methodology, on a solid basis (EINSTEIN Software Tool).

After the successful completion of the first IEE EINSTEIN project, the following project called EINSTEIN II, in the framework of Intelligent Energy Europe, started in summer 2010. Within this project, trainings for energy managers and consultant will be given in several countries like Germany, Austria, France, United Kingdom, Spain and Italy. The precise training dates will be provided under the EINSTEIN website. Furthermore, for producing companies, there will be the possibility for attending the EINSTEIN Audit Campaign, where energy audits will be executed.
