Energy audit Stiegl brewery

In this project, the energy balance of the brewery is analysed, through a distinct methodology during an energy audit. With this as a basis, an implementation concept is derived, for significantly reducing CO2 emissions, for the whole beer production. Furthermore, the potentials for further developments in increasing energy efficiency and the applicability of renewable energy sources, f.e. solar process heat are quantified.

The tasks involve the analysis of the current situation, with the help of the Pinch Analysis, where a system optimization through the intelligent design of a heat exchanger network is done, and the identification of adequate renewable energy sources for the brewing processes. The whole analysis is carried out under exergy aspects. The potentials for the applications of solar process heat, biomass (potential of recycling by-products) and combined heat and power equipment, for covering the heat and electrical energy demand, are analysed in detail.

The result is a concept for the implementation and realisation of a CO2-neutral beer production for the Stiegl brewery.
