This project is the Austrian contribution to the international IEA SHC Task 73, which advances the development and market integration of photovoltaic thermal heating systems using PVT technology. PVT systems combine electricity and heat generation in a single component and provide an efficient solution for dense urban areas and for decarbonising the building sector. The project reduces innovation and market entry barriers, helps develop standards and digital tools, and prepares practice based application data so that planning, operation and assessment of PVT installations become more reliable and comparable.
Austria participates with a consortium from industry and research. GREENoneTEC, 3F Solar and Gasokol work together with AEE INTEC and the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria on contributions that feed into key deliverables of the Task. This brings Austrian know how into international developments while ensuring a feedback loop for national energy research, standardisation and market deployment. Results from the FFG project SolarHybrid and from the ISO 24194 platform Sunpeek are used in a targeted way.
IEA SHC Task 73 is organised into four subtasks covering liquid based systems, air based systems, awareness raising and policy, and modelling and monitoring. Austria takes an active role in KPI development, monitoring of real systems, open source data instruments and the interface to policy frameworks. In line with the national energy and climate plan and international objectives such as the UN SDGs and the Paris Agreement, the project strengthens Austria through visibility, standardisation contributions and innovation partnerships. Dissemination through webinars, technical articles and social media supports national use of the results.
