Currently, this data is not available in the quality needed to understand gender-specific behaviors in the energy sector and the effects of the energy crisis to make policy recommendations with regards to implementing a fair and inclusive framework for the energy transition. This is where the UserTCP “Empowering all: Gender equality for the energy transition” project comes in. The Austrian contribution to the annex aims to use a survey and targeted focus group discussions based on these surveys to understand gender-specific behaviors in the energy sector. The results will provide political decision-makers and energy suppliers with concrete and actionable recommendations that will enable them to break the cycle of energy poverty, improve health conditions, increase sustainability, and accelerate the spread of clean energy solutions. This project aims to fill existing research gaps and implement practical solutions based on the experiences and needs of different user groups to ensure a more equitable, affordable, and accessible energy future for all.
In addition, a new, innovative Gender Hub will connect social and gender experts within the TCP community worldwide, promoting collaboration and mutual learning between technology-oriented projects and those focused on people-centered energy solutions.
