Modular energy storage tank working with the sorption principle with high energy density (MODESTORE)
Based on the results of the HYDES project and additional test runs with the 1st generation system, a second generation system has been developed within the follow-up EU-project MODESTORE. A 2nd generation prototype has been built and tested on a laboratory scale. An important goal of the 2nd generation system development was to include all functions into a single storage container. These compact modules can then be connected with each other to form a larger system.
The goal of the subsequent Austrian national “Haus der Zukunft”-project (“building of tomorrow”) is to use the results of the EU-project to build a first pilot system and install it in a low-energy single-family house. The system will be monitored for a one-year period. During this period, the charging and discharging cycles are analysed and the control strategy will be optimised.
