SolarAutomotive – Solar process heat for automotive and supplying industry

Solar Automotive is a bilateral project between Germany and Austria. The following project objectives were defined:

  1. removal of implementation barriers of SHIP
  2. increase the affordability and attractiveness of SHIP
  3. bundling two strong areas of the Austrian economy

To achieve these objectives 8 Austrian (+12 German) companies in the automotive and supplier industry will be analyzed in detail to identify optimised integration concepts at the process level (analysis of processes, efficiency measures, feasibility analysis of the solar thermal integration). Out of these results general integration concepts will be derived. Those will be provided to the solar companies to generate knowledge in order to develop smart process integrations.

In parallel, computer based planning tools will be developed to shorten the planning time and costs as well as to increase the quality and efficiency of the implemented systems. The further developed SolarSOCO tool is capable of mapping detailed simulations of heat recovery and solar integration. As a result solar companies will be able to offer also holistic solutions which will reduce the costs of SHIP-projects.

By the end of this project, general integration concepts will be derived.
