Transform.Industry

The aim of the project TransformIndustry is to illustrate this impact by developing realistic, scenario-based transformation paths for climate neutrality in Austria’s industry by 2040 and to derive innovation policy recommendations for action based on these findings. On the basis of the developed transformation paths, it will be demonstrated how climate protection, innovation and competitiveness of Austrian industry can be reconciled with each other, or which trade-offs are necessary. The resulting trade-offs can be directly translated into into additional emission avoidance costs and thus quantified. By taking a holistic view of the Austrian energy system with a focus on industry, a combined technical, economic and macroeconomic optimization is achieved. The project TransformIndustry will provide the basis for comprehensive transformation management in the Austrian industry. A strategic research and innovation agenda developed jointly with stakeholders identifies the development steps needed to achieve the climate targets. The results should therefore make an impact and be readily applicable to relevant stakeholders such as policy makers or funding agencies.
